Metal Encapsulated Insulation
Metal Encapsulated
Insulation Blankets provide solutions to numerous high temperature thermal management
problems. The design, which consists of thin gage metal encapsulating a core
insulation material, provides a durable system that can withstand extremely
harsh environments. Standard uses include heat containment, heat protection,
and fire protection. Typical Applications
| ·
Engine Exhaust Systems · Engine Manifolds · Firewalls · Heat Shields |
·
Bleed Air Systems · Fluid Control Systems · Engine/APU Compartments · Heat Exchangers |
Design Considerations
Removable vs. Integral Systems
The insulation blankets can be removable and reusable, or permanently attached to the end use component.
Encapsulating Material
Various operating conditions will require different performance characteristics. The encapsulating foil can be stainless steel or inconel and can range in thickness from .002" - .025".
Core Insulation Material
Evaluation of all design conditions (thermal profile requirements, weight limits, clearance limits, vibration, etc.) will dictate material selection. We perform comparative analysis of all potential options and provide customers with a range of solutions to choose from.
Attachment Method
There are numerous methods available, and each application is evaluated for optimum attachment techniques.
